‘Perfect, my friend let’s begin Essay #5 in When Darkness Rules a Nation series.”“Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” (1 John 5:21, KJV).
The Glittering Stage of Idolatry:
When the prophet Isaiah warned of Lucifer’s fall, he described him in hauntingly familiar words: “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God… I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:13–14).
‘Friends, what once was said in heaven has been reenacted upon the earth for millennia. Satan has always longed for worship, and when he cannot obtain it directly, he builds counterfeit temples where mankind offers it unknowingly.
In today’s world, those temples are no longer stone structures or carved statues—they are altars of entertainment. Theaters, concert arenas, stadiums, movie screens, and even the glowing rectangles of our phones serve as sanctuaries where worship is offered not to God but to celebrities, idols, and false gods wrapped in the guise of “entertainers.”
The rise of pop culture has done more than entertain; it has transformed nations. It shapes the values of the young, dictates the morals of society, and often glorifies sin so lavishly that people applaud wickedness as though it were virtue. Behind the flashing lights and camera lenses, however, lurk the dark architects—demons that crave recognition and channel their influence through human vessels.
Paul warned Timothy of a generation that would be “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4). That prophecy is fulfilled before our eyes. The entertainment industry is not merely amusement; it is a spiritual battleground. And every song, film, show, or performance serves a purpose, either drawing souls closer to the Lord or leading them astray.
‘My friends, this essay will explore how demons use the altar of entertainment to command worship. It will reveal how celebrities function as priests and priestesses of darkness, how media companies operate like temples, and how the masses, blinded by glamour, offer their devotion in exchange for fleeting pleasures.
Section One: Entertainment as a False Religion:
The human soul was created to worship our Creator. From the beginning, God designed men and women with a hunger for beauty, story, song, and awe. David sang psalms not just as music, but as holy offerings. Israel celebrated feasts with pageantry and ritual that pointed back to God’s goodness.
But when humanity rejects the Creator, the craving for worship does not vanish—it simply gets redirected. This is why entertainment has become a kind of secular religion. Consider its parallels;
- Priests and Priestesses: Pop stars, actors, and athletes are elevated as larger-than-life figures, their lives dissected, their words cherished, their every move broadcast as if divine. Fans bow not in churches but in arenas, with raised hands, tears streaming, and voices chanting their idol’s name.
- Temples and Sanctuaries: Stadiums and theaters are designed much like ancient sanctuaries—grand architecture, glowing lights, surround-sound hymns (music), and a central stage where offerings (ticket money, cheers, attention) are made.
- Rituals and Sacraments: Concert tours, film premieres, award shows—all are structured rituals. Red carpets are treated like holy grounds. Oscars, Grammys, and Golden Globes serve as sacred sacraments bestowing glory upon chosen icons.
- Worship and Devotion: Fans invest not only money but emotional loyalty. They tattoo idols’ names on their skin, dedicate countless hours to streaming music, memorizing lyrics, or defending celebrities against criticism. In biblical terms, this is nothing less than idolatry.
The demonic brilliance of this system is subtle. Few would ever admit they “worship” entertainers, but their actions speak louder than words. Jesus said plainly, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:21). Millions pour treasure into the altars of entertainment, revealing where their hearts truly lie.
The Sorcery of Sound and Image:
Music and visual art are spiritual channels. From the days of David’s harp to the choirs in Revelation, music carries unseen power. Likewise, images, symbols, and performances can stir spirits, invite presences, and alter emotions. Demons understand this far better than modern audiences.
The rhythms of modern music, particularly in pop, rap, and heavy metal, often serve as incantations. Lyrics exalt rebellion, lust, pride, and violence, each a gateway for unclean spirits. Videos are laden with occult imagery; pyramids, all-seeing eyes, serpents, broken crosses, and rituals dressed up as art. What ancient sorcerers once did in secret groves is now broadcast on mainstream television under the banner of “entertainment.”
This is not coincidental. Many celebrities openly admit to being inspired or “possessed” while on stage. They describe “alter egos” taking over, voices speaking through them, or supernatural energies guiding performances. Whether they acknowledge it or not, these are manifestations of demonic influence.
Entertainment as National Priesthood:
It is no exaggeration to say that entertainers shape more minds than politicians or preachers. A single line in a chart-topping song, a single kiss in a blockbuster film, or a single viral video can influence millions worldwide. This is priestly power—the power to bless or curse, to uplift or defile. And when in the hands of demons, it becomes a priesthood of corruption.
Paul wrote in (Romans 1:25); “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator.” Pop culture is the ultimate fulfillment of this perversion. Humanity worships the creature, the celebrity, the idol, the artist—while forgetting the Creator who gave talent and breath in the first place.
Section Two/ The Pact — How Celebrities Trade Souls for Fame:
Behind the glittering smiles of red carpets and the flashing lights of cameras lies a sinister truth: many celebrities are not simply successful, they are enslaved. The road to fame, particularly in the music and film industries, is paved with spiritual contracts.
Scripture warns us that Satan is “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4), and that he offers earthly kingdoms to those willing to bow before him. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, the devil offered Him “all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them” if only He would worship him (Matthew 4:8–9). Jesus refused—but many do not!
Stories abound of artists confessing that they “sold their soul” for fame. While some disguise this as metaphor, their testimonies reveal genuine spiritual exchanges. Demons grant temporary success, supernatural creativity, and public adoration in exchange for allegiance.
The Ritual of Rebranding:
It is no coincidence that many entertainers undergo drastic identity changes. They speak of “alter egos,” masks they wear to perform. Beyoncé speaks of her stage persona “Sasha Fierce.” Nicki Minaj has described being overtaken by a spirit named “Roman.” Even Bob Dylan, decades ago, admitted he made a “bargain” he must keep.
These are not harmless artistic devices. They are manifestations of spiritual pacts. The individual steps aside; the demon takes center stage. The music, performance, and presence are charged with supernatural influence that entrances audiences.
Section Three: Media as Modern Sorcery:
Entertainment media functions like sorcery on a mass scale. Sorcery, in biblical times, was not only about potions but about manipulation—controlling minds and altering reality through enchantment. Television shows, movies, and streaming platforms are not neutral.
They broadcast ideologies that normalize sin, ridicule holiness, and glamourize rebellion. Violence, fornication, witchcraft, greed, and pride are displayed not as destructive but as desirable. (Isaiah 5:20); warns: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil.”
Satan’s aim is not merely to entertain but to catechize. Every show is a sermon. Every movie is a liturgy. Every song is a hymn. And the gospel being preached is one of rebellion, lust, and despair. The effect is profound. Children grow up quoting songs more than Scripture.
Teenagers model their fashion, speech, and values after celebrities rather than parents. Adults spend more hours streaming content than reading the Bible or praying. The altar of entertainment becomes the primary teacher of the soul.
Section Four: Entertainment and National Decay:
When entertainment rules, morality decays. Rome fell not only because of invading armies but because of its obsession with games, theater, and spectacle. Citizens cheered at the coliseum while their empire rotted from within. So too, America and much of the modern world stand on similar ground. Super Bowl halftime shows are occult rituals disguised as pop concerts.
Award ceremonies feature overt blasphemy, mocking Christ while celebrating sin. Television networks push agendas that dismantle family, faith, and truth.
And the people, like ancient Israel bowing before golden calves, applaud. They do not see the cords binding them. They believe they are “free” because they can choose their entertainment, yet in truth, they are enslaved to passions stoked by demons.
Section Five: Hope in the Midst of Deception:
The enemy’s strategy may seem overwhelming, but it is not final. God has always preserved a remnant. Even in Babylon, faithful men like Daniel and his friends refused to bow to idols. Even in Rome, early Christians chose martyrdom over compromise.
For today’s believer, the call is the same:
- Discernment: Recognize entertainment not as harmless amusement but as a spiritual battlefield.
- Separation: Guard your eyes and ears, for they are gateways to the soul. (Matthew 6:22–23).
- Redemption: Use creativity, music, film, and media to glorify God rather than the enemy. The arts are not Satan’s by right; they belong to the Creator.
The good news is that no soul, however entangled in the entertainment altar, is beyond redemption. Christ’s blood can break every demonic contract, silence every false voice, and restore every heart to true worship.
Author’s Note:
‘Friends, this is written so you can’t unsee what you see! An awakening from their magic, an indoctrination into a religion of darkness for soul destruction. The altars of entertainment are not neutral stages but spiritual battlegrounds.
They are temples where demons receive worship through songs, performances, and images. Celebrities often serve as priests of this dark faith, leading multitudes astray with glamour and power.
But friends, God’s people are not powerless. The church must confront the reality of this counterfeit religion. We must regain our strength to break free from their magic, as well as understand that ancient demonic spirits exist in real time and are here to steal, kill, and destroy everything our Father has given us in trust, (John 10:10-29).
God bless you and be a kind steward to one another, and have a peaceful and safe remainder of your day, that tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone (Proverbs 27:1), so stay prayed-up and repent regularly in the “name and blood of Jesus,” Amen!
