Torah vs. Talmud: God’s Word or Man’s Tradition:

“Friend, we’re thankful you joined us today.” We rejoice that you visited with us! ‘The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. May your life overflow with His abundance today.

Today my friend is a special day for learning, where few take the time to understand, yet if you stay until the end of this essay you will know more than 85% of the population about this subject matter > “Tradition vs. Truth: How the Torah Points to Christ but the Talmud Serves Darkness.”

Where I break down the difference between God’s Word and man’s tradition, and show how the Jews in Israel use one as a cover while really following the other, and reveal it with KJV scripture throughout? Not being biased toward the Jews just have to tell the truth. So you can get a better idea of the people we help financially and supply our military weapons too.

A Battle of Authorities:

Throughout history, the greatest struggle has never been between nations, armies, or political parties—but between the pure Word of God and the traditions of men. When Jesus Christ walked the earth, His sharpest rebukes were not aimed at tax collectors, soldiers, or even pagans, but at the religious elite of Israel—the scribes, Pharisees, and teachers of the Law who corrupted God’s holy commandments with their added traditions.

This same struggle continues today. In modern Israel, many Jews claim devotion to the Torah, the Law of Moses. Yet in practice, their religious life is built on a much different foundation: the Talmud—a vast collection of rabbinic writings, interpretations, and commentary, written centuries after Christ. While the Torah is God’s eternal Word, the Talmud is man’s invention, and often directly contradicts the heart of God’s law.

This essay will reveal the distinction between the Torah and the Talmud, expose how modern Judaism has exalted tradition above truth, and explain why this deception aligns with what the Bible calls the “Synagogue of Satan” (Revelation 2:9; 3:9). In doing so, we will see how the enemy continues to blind hearts, while God’s eternal Word the same Word fulfilled in Jesus Christ—remains the only light of salvation.

1. What Is the Torah? God’s Holy Instruction:

The word Torah means “instruction” or “law.” In Scripture, it refers to the first five books of the Bible—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books were given directly by God to Moses and contain;

  1. The creation of the world.
  2. God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  3. The deliverance of Israel from Egypt.
  4. The giving of the Law at Sinai.
  5. The establishment of Israel as a holy nation.

The Torah is holy, pure, and eternal. The psalmist declares:

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” (Psalm 19:7). Every word in the Torah is breathed by God. It reveals God’s holiness, man’s sin, and the need for a perfect Redeemer—Christ Himself. Jesus affirmed this when He said: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” (Matthew 5:17). The Torah, therefore, is not an enemy of the Gospel—it is its foundation. It points directly to Jesus as the Messiah.

2. What Is the Talmud? The Tradition of Men:

In contrast, the Talmud is not Scripture. It is a compilation of rabbinical discussions, commentary, folklore, and interpretations written between the 3rd and 6th centuries A.D.—long after Christ. It consists of two parts:

  1. The Mishnah: a written collection of oral laws.
  2. The Gemara: rabbinic commentary and analysis of the Mishnah.

Together, the Talmud became the cornerstone of Rabbinic Judaism, which differs sharply from the faith of Abraham, Moses, and the prophets. Instead of exalting God’s Word, the Talmud elevates human opinion.

This is precisely what Jesus condemned when He said:

“For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men… Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.” (Mark 7:8–9). The Talmud often contains:

  1. Contradictions to the Torah.
  2. Blasphemous statements against Jesus.
  3. Disparaging comments about Gentiles.

While not every Jew studies these passages, the Talmud has become the authoritative lens through which many view the Torah. Thus, the living voice of God is silenced under layers of tradition.

3. The Synagogue of Satan: A Prophetic Warning:

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus gives a chilling warning to the church at Smyrna:

“I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” (Revelation 2:9).

This prophecy is echoed again in (Revelation 3:9). The “Synagogue of Satan” does not mean all Jews, nor does it mean those who honor God’s Word sincerely. Instead, it refers to those who:

  1. Claim the covenant of God while rejecting the Messiah.
  2. Use religious identity as power, not faith.
  3. Elevate tradition over truth, twisting Scripture for control.

By clinging to the Talmud while rejecting Christ, many today fulfill this prophecy. They carry the name “Jew,” but spiritually, they walk in darkness.

4. How the Torah Points to Christ/Jesus told the Pharisees plainly:

“For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.” (John 5:46).

Every page of the Torah whispers the name of Jesus:

  1. The Passover Lamb (Exodus 12) points to Christ, the Lamb of God (John 1:29).
  2. The Manna from Heaven (Exodus 16) points to Christ, the Bread of Life (John 6:51).
  3. The Bronze Serpent (Numbers 21) points to Christ lifted up on the cross (John 3:14–15).
  4. The Day of Atonement sacrifices (Leviticus 16) point to Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10).

Yet, because tradition blinds the eyes, many Jews today read Moses but cannot see Messiah. This is the spiritual veil Paul described:

“But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 3:14).

5. The Dark Sayings of the Talmud:

Unlike the Torah, the Talmud contains passages that are troubling, unholy, and often openly hostile to Gentiles and to Christ. For example;

  1. Some Talmudic writings call Gentiles “animals” or “cattle.”
  2. Others claim Jews may treat non-Jews differently in matters of justice.
  3. Certain passages even blaspheme Jesus Christ, portraying Him in vile terms.

Such statements cannot come from the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They are the fruit of pride, not of the Spirit. The Bible warns;

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:5–6). The Talmud represents the adding to God’s Word and therefore falls under judgment.

6. Why This Matters for Today:

Modern Israel’s religious system is not primarily Torah-based, but Talmud-based. This explains why;

  1. Many Jews reject Jesus as Messiah.
  2. Traditions overshadow God’s Word.
  3. Hostility grows toward Christians and Gentiles.

This deception also confuses the world. People assume that because Jews hold the Torah, they are faithfully following Moses. But in reality, their understanding is filtered through the Talmud, blinding them to the truth of Christ.

This is why Paul grieved for his people, saying; “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.” (Romans 10:2).

7. The Hope of Restoration:

Despite this darkness, God has not forgotten His people. The prophets declare that in the last days, a remnant of Israel will turn to Christ; “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered.” (Joel 2:32).

Even now, many Jews are coming to faith in Jesus, discovering that the Torah they have read all their lives points directly to Him. This is the true restoration God promised—not through the United Nations, not through the Rothschilds, not through political maneuvering, but through faith in His Son.

‘Friends, Choose God’s Word Over Man’s Tradition:

The battle between the Torah and the Talmud is not just an academic debate. It is a spiritual war between God’s eternal truth and the traditions of men. The Torah is holy, inspired, and fulfilled in Christ. The Talmud is a man-made book, often filled with blasphemy and error. As believers, we must cling to the Word of God alone. For only in Christ—the Word made flesh—do we find life. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17).

Author’s Note:

‘Friends, this essay was written with a heavy burden on my heart. Too often, we see confusion about the Jewish people, the Torah, and the Talmud. Some lift up modern Judaism as the holy remnant of God, while others swing to the opposite extreme and despise Jews altogether. Both positions miss the truth.

The truth is this: the Torah is God’s Word, perfect and eternal, pointing straight to Jesus Christ. The Talmud is man’s word, filled with error and, at times, blasphemy. To confuse the two is to miss God’s plan. Jesus Himself confronted this when He told the Pharisees that their traditions made God’s commandments of no effect. This is the same struggle we see today.

We must remember that Paul himself was a Jew of Jews, yet counted all things as loss for the sake of Christ. He never despised his people; he longed for them to be saved. Our position must be the same. We should neither idolize nor despise Israel but pray for them, witness to them, and understand God’s plan through them.

When Revelation warns of the “Synagogue of Satan,” it is not a call to hatred but a prophetic unveiling of false religion. Any system—Jewish, Christian, or otherwise—that elevates tradition over truth becomes a tool of Satan. Our mission as Christ’s Soldiers is to shine light into that darkness.

Brothers and Sisters! Let us cling to the Word of God, expose deception, and declare the Gospel. For in the end, only Jesus saves—Jew or Gentile, black or white, rich or poor. May this truth anchor us as we march forward as an army in faith of the living, not dead but risen “Jesus Christ,” coming back to us all soon!
