You Have The Power “It Is Written”* Declaring the Authority of God’s Word:

Hello friends, “God’s Love Knows No Bounds—And Neither Does Our Welcome!” “Anchored in Christ. A place to grow, worship, and believe.” This journey should be a reason to set on fire the power we each have as followers of Jesus. “It is written.” will have you to understand today why this statement means so much to empowering the disciples of Jesus. Let’s begin our KNOWLEDGE today…

  1. Empowerment Through the Holy Spirit:

Throughout the pages of Scripture, believers are reminded of the transformative and victorious power available through Jesus Christ. Central to this promise is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit—a divine empowerment that enables every disciple to stand firm against Satan and his demonic as well as human agents of evil. This paper explores the rich biblical narrative, with particular emphasis on the recurring declaration “it is written,” which has become synonymous with the unyielding authority of God’s Word.

The King James Version of the Bible, revered for its poetic language and historical significance, offers numerous scriptures that attest to the mighty power believers possess. In the following sections, we will trace the origins of this empowerment, its scriptural basis, and its practical implications for spiritual warfare.

2. The Divine Gift: Jesus and the Promise of the Holy Spirit:

Jesus’ earthly ministry was not only about teaching and healing but also about laying the foundation for a lasting spiritual inheritance. One of His most profound promises was the giving of the Holy Spirit—a Comforter, Advocate, and Source of divine power. In (John 14:16-17), Jesus declares: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him, but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you.”

This promise was fulfilled at Pentecost (Acts 2), where the disciples were endowed with power to witness, to speak in tongues, and to confront the forces of darkness. Jesus’ gift was meant not only to comfort but also to empower believers to engage in spiritual warfare—a warfare that is fought on the battleground of faith and the Word of God.

3. Scriptural Foundations of Spiritual Warfare:

From the earliest accounts in Scripture, the struggle between the kingdom of God and the forces of evil is evident. The Bible presents spiritual warfare as a battle that extends beyond the physical realm. (Ephesians 6:10-18), vividly describes the armor of God that believers must put on to stand against the devil’s schemes. Verse 17 declares: And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

This imagery underscores that our primary weapon in spiritual warfare is not worldly power but the infallible Word of God. Furthermore, (James 4:7), exhorts believers to resist the devil: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Such verses reveal that the strength given by the Holy Spirit enables believers to confront and overcome Satan, not through human might but through reliance on God’s truth and authority.

4. “It Is Written”: Declaring the Authority of God’s Word:

A recurring refrain in the New Testament is the proclamation “it is written.” This phrase is a powerful affirmation of the authority and sufficiency of Scripture. Jesus Himself used it during His temptations in the wilderness. In (Luke 4:4), when tempted by Satan, He responded, “And Jesus answering said unto him, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

Later, in (Luke 4:8), during another confrontation, Jesus declared: “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” These declarations were not mere quotations; they were bold assertions that the authority of God’s Word is supreme.

When believers echo “it is written,” they are aligning themselves with divine truth, a truth that even Satan cannot refute. The phrase signifies that every battle in the spiritual realm is fought on the foundation of Scripture. By invoking “it is written,” disciples affirm that the precepts of God are unassailable and that no demonic power can stand against the proclaimed authority of His Word.

5. The Unassailable Faith That Overcomes Satan:

The impact of proclaiming “it is written” lies in the strength of faith it conveys. Believers who stand on the promises and truths of Scripture exhibit a faith that is unyielding. In( Matthew 17:20), Jesus teaches about the potency of faith: “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

This metaphor illustrates that even the smallest measure of genuine faith, when rooted in the truth of God’s Word, is capable of overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Satan, whose power is limited by the boundaries set by God’s eternal decree, finds no footing against such resolute trust. The believers’ ability to declare “it is written” is both an act of defiance against the enemy and an affirmation of their dependence on divine power. Their faith transforms the spiritual atmosphere, rendering Satan’s deceptions powerless.

6. The Word of God as the Sword in Spiritual Battle:

The metaphor of the “sword of the Spirit” is particularly significant in the context of spiritual warfare. As described in (Ephesians 6:17), this sword is none other than the Word of God—a dynamic tool for both defense and offense. (Hebrews 4:12), further illuminates the nature of Scripture: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

In the hands of a Spirit-empowered believer, the Word of God becomes a weapon against the lies, temptations, and deceptions of the enemy. Every time a disciple declares “it is written,” they are wielding this divine sword. The act of proclaiming Scripture is not passive reading; it is an active engagement in the battle for one’s soul and the souls of others. It is a demonstration that the truths of God outmatch the cunning of Satan and that the eternal promises contained in Scripture stand as a fortress against the assaults of evil.

7. The Indwelling Spirit: Transforming the Life of a Believer:

The Holy Spirit is not merely a source of power; He is the presence of God living within every believer. This indwelling transforms ordinary individuals into mighty warriors for Christ. In (Romans 8:11), the Apostle Paul assures believers: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

This promise speaks to a resurrection power that is not only future-oriented but also active in the present. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to discern truth from error, to resist the temptations and lies of Satan, and to live in a way that reflects the character and authority of Jesus. By cultivating a deep relationship with the Spirit through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and obedience, disciples grow in their ability to declare “it is written” with confidence—knowing that they stand on the unshakeable foundation of God’s promises.

8. Biblical Testimonies of Victory Over Demonic Forces:

History and Scripture are replete with accounts of God’s people triumphing over demonic powers. In the Old Testament, the story of Daniel in the lion’s den is a powerful testimony to God’s deliverance from evil. In the New Testament, the acts of Jesus and His disciples further confirm that the power of God is mightier than any demonic force. Consider (Acts 16:16-18), where Paul confronts a spirit of divination:

“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and we cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”

Here, the authority of Jesus’ name and the power of the Holy Spirit are displayed in a clear, public defeat of demonic influence. The declaration “it is written”—though not verbatim in this account—is implicit in the manner in which Paul wields the authority of Scripture. By standing firm in faith and calling upon the name of Jesus, the believers demonstrate that the written word of God is a potent weapon that no demonic force can withstand.

9. Living the Victory: Contemporary Applications of Divine Empowerment:

The biblical narratives of triumph over evil are not confined to ancient history; they continue to inspire and guide modern believers. In today’s world, spiritual warfare remains a reality. Every day, individuals face temptations, deceptions, and the subtle snares of the enemy. Yet, the promise of Jesus endures: believers are equipped with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God as their means of victory.

To live in this victory means to internalize the truth that when a believer proclaims “it is written,” they are invoking the very power that can overcome any adversary. In practical terms, this can be applied in several ways:

A. Personal Devotion and Prayer: Cultivate a disciplined prayer life where Scripture is not only read but also declared. Memorizing key passages helps believers stand firm during moments of temptation or attack.

B. Community Fellowship: Sharing testimonies of victory in small groups or congregations reinforces collective faith and encourages others to trust in the power of God’s Word.

C. Worship and Praise: In times of spiritual conflict, engaging in worship reminds believers of the supremacy of God and reaffirms the promise that “it is written.”

D. Active Engagement in Service: As believers step out in faith to serve their communities, they become living testimonies of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, effectively countering the influence of evil with acts of love and righteousness.

Authors Note:

Contemporary ministries and Christian authors continue to emphasize that the battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. (Ephesians 6:12), reminds us: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

This verse, as I have shown in several of my inspired articles, challenges modern believers to view daily struggles through the lens of spiritual warfare, recognizing that every act of faith, every recitation of Scripture, is a stand against the forces of darkness.

‘Friends, the power that Jesus has bestowed upon His followers through the Holy Spirit is a transformative gift that continues to impact lives across generations. The recurring declaration “it is written” serves as a rallying cry—a reminder that the authority of God’s Word is absolute and that no power of darkness can withstand the faith of a Spirit-empowered believer.

From the wilderness temptations where Jesus Himself repelled Satan with Scripture to the early church’s bold confrontations with demonic forces, the Bible offers a timeless message: the Word of God, wielded by the Holy Spirit, is the ultimate weapon in spiritual warfare. Believers today are called to embrace this power, to stand firm in their faith, and to declare the eternal truths found in Scripture.

In doing so, they not only resist the enemy but also manifest the living presence of Christ in a world that desperately needs hope and redemption. As we internalize these truths, may we each be emboldened to proclaim “it is written” with unwavering conviction—knowing that in every battle, in every trial, the power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit is our eternal and victorious inheritance.

I hope this message helps you completely realize that you, as a genuine believer and disciple of Christ, have the illumination and power granted by His “Holy Spirit.” God bless you and the ones you love. A family that prays together, stays together, AMEN!
